BREAKING [Abia]: Isu Community in Arochukwu under siege again, three persons missing

The dispute between the people of Isu community in Arochukwu LGA Abia State and the Utuma people of Cross rivers state seem not to have been totally resolved.

Report reaching AF-NEWS says that some men of Isu community who went fishing on Thursday 4th February 2021, on the Okpa Isu river were attacked by gunmen.

According to a source, the gun men who attacked these fishermen are people of Utuma and neighbouring Ukwa Community.

"the Okpa Isu river is our normal fishing settlement. Our people went there to fish today and were attacked on the bigger part of the river because the river has a big and small part.

" We have been having land issues with them for about 3 years now. They made an attempt to invade our land last year February but didn't succeed.

"We did not provoke them. We thought that the dispute had ended because the government had informed us they were sorting the matter out with Cross river state government."

The source also stated that the member representing Arochukwu state constituency Hon. Mike Ukoha, has been informed of the incidence that happened.

As at the time of filing this report, 3 fishermen of Isu Community are reportedly missing after the attack.

When AF NEWS contacted Honorable Mike Ukoha, he stated that he has reached out to the Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams and also two of the members representing this areas having dispute with Isu community and they promise to intervene immediately to calm the situation while investigation is on.

He also revealed that he has reached out to Abia State Government on the current situation and he expects the government to take immediate action in protecting Isu people and find a lasting solution to the challenge.

Attempts to reach Arochukwu Local Government Area chairman failed as he did not pick up the call.
