BREAKING: Court Issues Order To Buhari On Electoral Act Amendment | DETAILS
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered President Buhari, and others to quit plans of re-amending the recently signed Electoral Act 2022.

Recall that Buhari had written to the National Assembly few days after signing the bill, to delete section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act.

The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, gave the order on Monday, following a suit filed by Chief James Ogwu Onoja SAN, on behalf of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) seeking an ex parte order. READ HERE

Ekwo agreed with Onoja in his argument that the President, AGF, Senate President cannot amend an already signed bill without following the due process of law.
Justice Ekwo noted that a court of competent jurisdiction remains the only medium to challenge the validity of a law already in existence.

The matter was adjourned till March 21, 2022 for further hearing.
