BRUTALITY: How Abia State Governor's Convoy Allegedly Brutalized An INEC Official | READ DETAILS

The chief legal officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Abia State, Mrs. Olachi Nwugo has alleged that she was brutalized by some dispatch riders of the Abia State Government.

She made this claim at the judicial panel sitting in Umuahia today on the case between Mrs. Olachi C Nwugo and the Commissioner of Police Abia State.

According to Olachi, on March 16, 2019, she was on an official assignment as she was rushing to work along Mbaise in Imo state .

She said two dispatch riders without any convoy assaulted her after flagging her down. The riders invited other escort team including another policeman who hitted her head with his gun on arrival.

The two riders at that time, started shooting at her car and partly damaged her phone which she was using then to take pictures of the event as it was happening.

According to her, she called the then majority leader Engr. Chinedum Orji who sent the aide-de-camp (ADC) to the governor to the scene .

She said the ADC decided to take over the matter.

According to her she petitioned the AIGP Zone 9 , who referred her to the Commissioner of Police and instructed that the matter be investigated .

She said " there is a department in the state CID Owerri called CID, they are handling the matter. I gave them one bullet out of the three picked from the scene.

"They asked me where my car was , I told them it was at the mechanic's .

"I asked my mechanic to tow the car back to Owerri after 2 weeks because I was still recovering from the pains inflicted on me.

"They also told me that they have signalled the government house and asked me to go as they will call me when I am needed.

" Since then , I have not received any report from them. It seems the matter has been swept under the carpet that is why I brought the matter to the panel" she said.

Mrs Olachi told the court that she is still receiving medical treatments as a result of that incidence. Adding that she can no longer stay in a noisy place and her legs are still swollen.

She pleaded a compensation of N30M.

The court adjourned the case to March 9, 2021 for further hearing.
