Canada Reveals Steps Nigerians Can Take To Relocate To The Country

The government of Canada has warned Nigerians not to be fooled by wrong information circulating online about how to immigrate to the country.

The warning was handed down late on Wednesday evening by the Office of the High Commission of Canada to Nigeria via a statement on its Twitter handle.

Specifically, it informed those interested in immigrating to Canada that refugee applications are not accepted directly from people in their immigration office.
It added that they work with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), other designated referral organizations and private sponsors to identify individuals in need of resettlement.

Even at that, it noted that no one could guarantee approval of immigration applications except Canadian migration officers.

The Canadian High Commission to Nigeria also gave some other links and methods persons interested in immigrating to Canada can explore.

The statement reads: "In light of recent events, we have received great interest in Canadian immigration programs.

Canadian Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates, Consulates General or Honorary Consulates do not accept refugee applications directly from people.

Canada works with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), other designated referral organizations and private sponsors to identify individuals in need of resettlement, and who are outside their home country.

You cannot apply directly for resettlement. You must be referred to Canada by a designated referral organization or a private sponsor.

No one can guarantee that your immigration application will be fast-tracked or approved. Only a Canadian migration officer can decide if you can come to Canada.

Meanwhile, Nigerian DJ, songwriter, and singer, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known as DJ Switch is said to have left the shores of Nigeria following alleged threats over her stand and videos on the alleged Lekki tollgate killings during the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria.
She reportedly made a presentation on the incident to the Canadian parliament and some reports suggest she could be granted assylum in the country.
