Catholic Church Reacts To Priest banning Igbo Songs, Imposes Punishment | READ DETAILS
The Catholic Church, Archdiocese of Lagos state, have reacted to the banning of Igbo songs by Rev. Fr. James Anelu, the priest in charge of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ewu-Owa Gberigbe in Ikorodu.

Father Anelu had angrily disrupted a worship session in his parish, announcing the ban of Igbo songs. READ HERE

Reacting to the issue which has sparked reactions, the Archbishop of Lagos, Alfred Adewale Martins, in a statement, described Father Anelu's outburst and imposition as completely unacceptable and does not represent the Catholic Church's position.

The Archbishop in the statement, announced the suspension of the Priest, who according to him, will embark on an indefinite leave of absence to give room for investigation.

Father Anelu will embark on the leave starting from Tuesday, February 8, 2022 till further notice.

This implies that the priest cannot celebrate public Masses or be in charge of any parish in the entire catholic church until the Archbishop concludes his investigation.
