In a strong diplomatic statement that has stirred national discourse, Chief (Dr.) Emeka Kalu, a prominent political leader and senatorial aspirant for Abia North Senatorial District in 2027, has accused China of double standards in its relationship with Nigeria - describing the Asian giant's recent commendation of Nigeria's governance efforts as "dangerous hypocrisy.ÔÇØ

Dr. Kalu, who spoke from Abuja, cautioned that while China publicly praises Nigeria's developmental strides, its actions within the country tell a troubling story of exploitation, illegal mining, and covert destabilization of local communities.

According to Kalu, China's role in illegal mining across mineral-rich states such as Zamfara, Niger, and Nasarawa has contributed significantly to insecurity and economic sabotage. He alleged that Chinese-linked networks have gone beyond unlawful resource extraction to funding and arming local militias, further deepening Nigeria's security and economic crises.

"It is distressing that while we are being commended diplomatically, the same forces are undermining our sovereignty through illegal mining, arms sponsorship, and resource theft,ÔÇØ Kalu stated.

He emphasized that the time has come for Nigeria to rise above foreign influence and confront the threat with courage, transparency, and patriotic resolve.

"Our leaders must protect this nation's integrity. Allowing foreign powers to exploit our land and use our people against the state is a betrayal of the very foundation of governance,ÔÇØ he added.

The Abia North senatorial hopeful described China's public diplomacy as "a veil over a pattern of economic imperialism,ÔÇØ urging the Federal Government to intensify intelligence-led investigations and reclaim control over mining sites currently operated illegally under foreign-backed fronts.
