As Commander MacDonald Ubah, Special Adviser on Security to Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, clocks 60, he has opened up on the incredible journey of his life - from a humble beginning in Kampala, Uganda, to the corridors of power in Umuahia, Nigeria.

In a soul-stirring interview with AF Television, Comdr. Ubah reflected on the trials, sacrifices, and divine preservation that have defined his six decades on earth.

Born on July 21, 1965, in Kampala, Uganda, to a Nigerian civil servant working at the Nigerian Embassy, MacDonald Ubah did not grow up with a silver spoon. "I wasn't born with any golden spoon,ÔÇØ he confessed. But God has kept me, and for that, I can't thank Him enough.ÔÇØ

He returned to Nigeria for his education and graduated from the University of Calabar. Driven by patriotism and discipline, he joined the Nigerian Navy and rose through the ranks, serving actively for 27 years.

MacDonald Ubah's military experience, particularly during international peacekeeping missions, shaped his worldview and strengthened his resolve. One of the most defining moments came during a rescue operation in Liberia, where he narrowly escaped death - twice.

In one harrowing incident, a colleague mistakenly threw the pin of a grenade into the creek instead of the explosive itself. "I had to rush and pick up the grenade. While trying to throw it, I slipped and fell. The grenade rolled across the ship's platform. I ran after it and finally threw it into the water,ÔÇØ he recalled. "By God's grace, it didn't explode on us.ÔÇØ

The second close shave occurred while attempting to refuel their ship in Liberia. The wooden platform he was standing on gave way and exposed sharp H beams underneath. "I was almost gone, but I managed to jump over,ÔÇØ he said, grateful.

After retiring from active service, he ventured into private business, and today, he brings his wealth of security experience to the service of Abia State under Governor Alex Otti.

A seasoned traveler, Commander Ubah has visited 52 countries and counting. Despite his global exposure, he remains deeply committed to the development of his home state.

He advised younger Nigerians to remain focused and avoid crime and evil vices. "If the youth remain focused and responsible, they will achieve more than we ever did,ÔÇØ he said.

Commander Ubah also called on Abians to give their full support to the Alex Otti-led administration, which he described as "a government changing the narrative positively in Abia State.ÔÇØ
