COMMITTEE TO DISARTICULATE JUNIOR SEC. SCH FROM SEMB TO ASUBEB INAUGURATED

Abia State Government has inaugurated the Committee On Disarticulation Of Junior Secondary Schools from Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) to Abia State Universal Basic Education Board(ASUBEB) and Harmonization Of Payment Teachers Salaries And Allowances by Local Government Councils to ensure proper administration of the school system .

The State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who inaugurated the 11 Man Committee at Government House, Umuahia, pointed out that the objective of the Committee is to ensure proper alignment of staff strength, leave allowances and other related issues involved in its resolve to do the right thing of ensuring that ASUBEB assume its lawful responsibility of payment of salaries, emolument and allowances of teachers from primary school level to the junior secondary 1-3 as done in other States.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, pointed out that it is an aberration that for some time now, SEMB is burdened with the problem of payment of salaries and emoluments of teachers in public Junior Secondary School system and stated that the Committee now has the mandate of segmenting them in order to put them back under the umbrella of ASUBEB and the local governments.

The State Chief Executive reminded the 11-man Committee, dream from relevant units of government, to do a very thorough job as they have been chosen based on their possession of the relevant experience and qualifications advice Government on how to seamlessly manage the process of disarticulating ASUBEB in order to enable Government achieve its vision of repositioning education and workers welfare in the State to a higher level.

Responding, the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Committee on Disarticulation Of Junior Secondary Schools from SEMB to ASUBEB And Harmonization Teachers Salaries And Allowances by Local Government Councils, who is a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Of Finance, Chief Fred Chuks Udensi, thanked the Government for finding them worthy, and assured that they will work assiduously to meet the expectations of the State Government under their terms of reference.
