Cop Who Killed Lawyer Suspended As NBA Demands N5bn Compensation | READ MORE
Following the recommendation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Akali Baba, for ASP Drambi Vandi to be suspended from the Nigeria Police Force for the murder of a pregnant lawyer, Mrs Omobolanle Raheem, the Police Service Commission (PSC), has given approval.

Recall that AL FACTS NEWSPAPER reported that Mrs Raheem was shot dead by Vandi on Christmas day. READ HERE

Following clamors for justice, the IGP wrote to the PSC recommending suspension of Vandi to aid easy probe into the matter.

Announcing Vandi's suspension from the Force, the spokesperson for the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani in a statement released on Thursday, said;

"The commission, in a letter to the Inspector-General of Police signed by the acting chairperson, Clara Ogunbiyi, stated that the commission has carefully examined the facts of the case, observations and recommendation with respect to allegations against the officer and granted approval for the suspension of the officer from duty with immediate effect.ÔÇØ

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch says it will closely monitor the prosecution of Vandi as they seek for N5billion compensation for the family of the deceased.

"The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, to which Mrs Raheem belongs, Mr Ikechukwu Uwana, contacted Mr Adegboruwa to lead the team of lawyers for the NBA that will monitor the trial of the cop.

"The NBA, Lagos, in conjunction with the President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Mr Y.C. Mikyau (SAN), has decided to be part of the prosecution of the policeman as part of efforts toward securing quick and effective justice for the family of the deceased,ÔÇØ a statement released on Thursday by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), read.
