CORONAVIRUS: Bauchi State Govt Shuts Down markets

Bauchi state government has ordered the closure of market in the state from tomorrow 26 March 2020.

The state deputy governor senator Baba Tela while briefing news men at the premises of the government house said the closure does not include pharmacies, food items sellers, super market selling Essential product, bakeries and filling stations.

Baba Tela who is also the chairman task force committee on the Coronavirus said the directives is inline with the earlier decision of the state government on the restriction of any gathering of more than fifty persons as a measure to contain the Coronavirus in the state.

The deputy governor added that government has also advised state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to direct their members to pick only three passengers per vehicle and should provide hand sanitizers to their passengers.

While assuring citizens of the state of government readiness and determination to strengthen the capacity of it's medical personal to deal with the emergency, the task force chairman said government has put place all the necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus.

He expressed satisfaction with the upgraded isolation center and the intensive care unit established by the state government.

The deputy governor revealed that testing kits have been procured and awaiting approval from the Nigerian Center for disease control for onward delivery to the state.

Senator Baba Tela called on the public to provide any useful information to the state outbreak committee on Lassa Fever and the COVID-19.

Also speaking, the state commissioner of health Dr. Aliyu Maigoro confirmed that the test results of 27 persons who had contact with the governor has proved negative.
