JUST IN: Court Cancels Judgement Given In Favour Of Sunday Igboho
The N20billion naira compensation awarded to Sunday Adeyemo, alias Sunday Igboho, popular Yoruba Nation agitator has been cancelled by an appellate court on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Justice Muslim Hassan of the Ibadan Division of the Court of Appeal, Oyo State, nullified the N20 billion exemplary and aggravated damages awarded to Sunday Igboho, against the Department of State Security (DSS).

The court which described the award as outrageous, also set aside the judgment that declared the DSS attack on Igboho's house illegal.

According to Justice Hassan, the Oyo State High Court ignored the grounds for the case in acquiring jurisdiction and that the judge should not have decided on the award of damages based on his own preferences.

Recall that an Oyo State High Court in Ibadan had on Friday, September 17, 2021, ordered the Federal Government of Nigeria to pay the sum of 20 billion to Igboho as damages for the invasion of his residence.
