Giving judgement on the suit on Wednesday, Justice Haruna Tsamani ruled that the APM's petition is a pre-election matter and as such, the PEPT lacks jurisdiction on it.
APM had argued that Tinubu was improperly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress, APC, for nominating Kashim Shettima as his vice-presidential candidate for the election.

They had also claimed that Shettima was still the APC candidate for Borno Central Senatorial District as at July 14 when he accepted the nomination for vice-presidential candidate.
