Court Orders for the release of Emperor Ogbonna, awards N1.5M damages

A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, Monday, granted Barrister Emperor Ogbonna bail and ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to release him immediately.
The court also barred DSS and its sister government agents from further arresting, detaining and harassing the applicant.

The court reprimanded the DSS for importing IPOB into the whole issue to make it look like a terrorist Case.

"Using uncouth language and insult against the president or DSS is unprofessional but does not by any means constitute inciting activities against the state," it rules.

The court awarded a cost of N1.5m against DSS.

Barrister Emperor Ogbonna was early arrested due to a post on Social Media against the governor of Abia State. The court granted him bail, but was later rearrested.
