Court Remands Man For D-efiling Step Daughter In Church | READ FULL DETAILS
A Yaba Magistrates' Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of one Linus Sunday for allegedly defili-ng his seven-year-old step-daughter in the Aguda area of the state.

The Lagos State Police Command demanded the remand of the defendant before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka when he was arraigned on one count of defilement.

The 50-year-old defendant was accused of committing the offence at Christ Believers' Assembly at Aguda where he resides with his wife and her two daughters, his step-children.

The police prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the defendant started committing the crime from December 2022 till February 2023 when his estranged wife found out.

Nurudeen added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The charge read in part, "That you, Linus Sunday, between December 2022 and February 2023, at Christ Believers Assembly at Aguda Lagos, in the Yaba Magisterial District did unlawfully defil-ed one girl (name withheld) aged seven years and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015."

The defendant's plea was not taken.

Nurudeen prayed the court to remand the defendant pending the outcome of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

Nwaka, thereafter, remanded the defendant pending DPP advice and adjourned the case till July 7, 2023.
