Foremost telecom mogul and 2019 Abia North senatorial candidate, Chief (Dr.) David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex MFR, OON has put smiles on the faces of his people through his massive palliatives meant to cushion the negative economic effect occasioned by the COVID 19 or Coronavirus pandemic.

Based on the information made available to AFNEWS, Bourdex has made provision of 1000 bags of rice, 1000 bags of garri, 400 cartons of indomie, 456 pieces of Sanitizers and 360 face masks to mention but a few.

In a press statement signed by Bourdex himself and made available to AFNEWS, he assured Abia State Government of his support in the efforts of the government in providing palliatives for the state, but he likewise made funds available for his foundation to procure food items for his Abiriba people.

My beloved good people of Abiriba,

Late February, I left Nigeria for a business trip to Europe and from Austria, I decided to touch base in the United States of America. My plan was to fly back to Nigeria the following week, but before I could make travel arrangements, the news of the coronavirus pandemic that started in China had elicited global concerns.

Although I shelved immediate travel plans to understand the many dimensions of the COVID-19 crisis, I have continued to keep in touch and receive reports about how our people are coping with the current health challenges, to stay alive.

I understand that different levels of government, both at the state and national, have also resolved to lockdown borders and ordered people to stay at home to avoid spread of the highly contagious virus, also known as COVID-19.

Apart from my personal letter to the state government assuring the state of my support to ensure that our people do not languish in hunger due to the lockdown, I have empowered the Bourdex Foundation to reach out to our people with these food items in keeping with our promise to be there for the people and touch lives.

While the food goes round, I pray that Almighty God will keep us all safe, so that at the end of it all, we shall come out to rejoice in the Lord that nobody was lost to COVID-19. I also use the opportunity to crave your understanding and note that although held back in USA because of the shutdown of airports, my heart is at home with you, my dear people.

Let us continue to observe all codes of personal hygiene, especially washing our hands and desisting from touching our eyes, noses and mouths. Observing social distancing and wearing of face masks have also been recommended by experts. These few inconveniences are necessary to keep alive.
