.... Lawmakers Call for Urgent Action as Lives and Properties Are at Risk Across Eluama, Amiyi-Uhu and Ogboro Communities

A disturbing development threatening the lives and safety of residents in Isuikwuato Local Government Area has been brought to the spotlight by Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, the Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.

Raising the matter under "Urgent Public Importance" during plenary, Hon. Johnson sounded a passionate alarm over the collapse of multiple high tension electricity poles along the Nunya-Eluama-Ogboro road, which is currently under reconstruction.

According to the lawmaker, the fallen electricity infrastructure is located specifically between Amaokwe Amiyi-Uhu and Eluama, a stretch of road under reconstruction. The damaged high-tension poles are not only obstructing movement but also pose a grave risk of electrocution, fire outbreak, and widespread blackout in the affected areas.

"This is not just a technical failure - it is a disaster waiting to happen,ÔÇØ Hon. Lucky Johnson warned.

He noted that the incident endangers both public and private properties, and if not urgently addressed, may lead to fatalities or large-scale power outages across several Isuikwuato communities.

In an attempt to safeguard the exposed infrastructure and prevent cable theft, local leaders in the affected communities have reportedly mobilized community vigilantes to monitor the site.

"They are doing their best, but this is beyond community efforts. Government agencies must act now,ÔÇØ Lucky Johnson added.

Hon. Lucky Johnson revealed that he has personally contacted the EEDC Branch Head in charge of Isuikwuato, urging the company to intervene without delay. He also called on critical stakeholders, including the Abia State Ministry of Works, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Local Government Authority, to swing into action.

"The solution must be multi-stakeholder and immediate. Waiting any longer is gambling with human lives,ÔÇØ he stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to monitoring the situation closely and pledged to collaborate with all relevant authorities until a lasting solution is achieved.
