Baba-Ahmed made the statement while addressing national issues shortly after the Ramadan fasting period, where he congratulated Muslims for completing the fasting and then moved to speak on the state of the nation, particularly insecurity and political violence.
According to him, three years into the administration of President Tinubu, Nigeria is witnessing an escalation in violence, insecurity, and attacks across the country, adding that the situation appears worse than many Nigerians expected.

Baba-Ahmed stated that the level of killings, attacks, and insecurity in different parts of the country shows that Nigeria is facing serious security challenges that require urgent and decisive leadership.
He also criticized the president's recent trip abroad, which he said happened at a time when the country was dealing with serious security attacks in some communities.

According to him, top security officials travelling with the president at such a time sent a wrong signal, especially when communities were mourning victims of attacks and expecting strong leadership and presence from security authorities.

He said even if the trip was important, the situation in the country should have required some top officials to return earlier for symbolic and leadership reasons.
Baba-Ahmed also raised concerns about increasing political violence in Nigeria, especially as the country gradually moves towards the 2027 general elections.
He warned that thugs attacking political opponents, harassment of politicians, and making some areas politically inaccessible to opposition parties is dangerous for democracy.
