The residents of the Leprosy Settlement at Colony Imenyi in Abia State could not hide their joy as renowned businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyasọ, visited their community with life-changing gifts, renewed hope, and promises of infrastructural development.

The atmosphere was filled with songs of gratitude - "Ofuji, i bia! i bia! Ndi Colony nabatara gi, i bia! i bia!ÔÇØ - as the people sang and danced to welcome the man many now describe as "a light in a time of darkness.ÔÇØ

Dr. Anyasọ, who arrived under the banner of The Chima Anyasọ Foundation, presented the settlement with solar-powered lights, bags of rice, cartons of noodles, tubers of yam, and other essential materials aimed at improving their standard of living.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Anyasọ emphasized the importance of compassion and community support, assuring residents that they would no longer be forgotten.

"We are here to give you hope and to let you know that you are not forgotten,ÔÇØ he said. "You have Christ, and you also have brothers and sisters like us who care about you. We will begin immediate work on your borehole, generator, and residential building. Your place of worship will also be renovated.ÔÇØ

The philanthropist also announced plans to integrate the settlement into his foundation's charity programmes to ensure continuous support for their welfare and health needs.

Visibly moved by his words and generosity, residents of the settlement prayed passionately for Dr. Anyasọ and his team, blessing them for their compassion and commitment to uplifting the less privileged.

The Project Director of the Colony Imenyi Settlement, Very Rev. Nnaemeka Ajike, praised Dr. Anyasọ's humanitarian spirit and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate his example.
