Drugs peddlers takeover Abia community, threaten to kill traditional ruler

It was gathered that Umuokoro village now plays host to hoodlums, hard drug peddlers, armed robbers who, after taking all kinds of illicit drugs, unleash mayhem on members of the community and far beyond.

A source who volunteered information on condition of anonymity, decried the level of crime committed in Umuokoro and adjoining communities, informing that bad boys congregate at a compound close to the Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Umuokoro, Eze Godwin Iwejua.

He said that a particular man named Emeka Iwejua and a cousin to the Traditional Ruler, is among the bad boys who sell illicit drugs as well as bring bad name to the community.

When newsmen probed further, it was learnt that Emeka Iwejua including Uche Agbara, among others have bunks at the backyard of the traditional Ruler, where hoodlums congregate and plan their operations.

Another source who also spoke on condition of anonymity, exnorated the Traditional Ruler, pointing out that the said Emeka Iwejua, his cousin, had threatened to kill the Monarch if he informs the Police or other security agencies about his activities.

He called on the Commissioner of Police, CP Ene Okon and other security agencies to move swiftly to the community and save them from the hands of these miscreants, who, after taking drugs, move at wee hours as no one could confront them.

He added that Umuokoro, Amaku, Umuabali, Ndiolumbe among others are now beehive of crimnal activities, recalling how CP Okon described Isiala Ngwa North and South as capital of criminals just he tasked the CP to swing into action having been armed with vital information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.

Meanwhile, when newsmen made effort to speak with the Traditional Ruler of Umuokoro Autonomous Community, a source close to him, informed that he would not speak to the press as he had been threatened severally by Emeka.
