The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Christopher Enweremadu, a former Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, wanted over alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, stealing, and money laundering.

In a public notice signed by the Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, on Wednesday, the anti-graft agency disclosed that Enweremadu's last known address was the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Umuahia, Abia State.

The EFCC called on members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts to immediately contact any of its zonal offices nationwide.

The statement read in part:

"The public is hereby notified that CHRISTOPHER ENWEREMADU, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, stealing, and money laundering."

The declaration officially places the former commissioner on EFCC's wanted list, further intensifying the agency's anti-corruption clampdown.
