Abia PDP Crisis: Emeka Ejiogu's Suspension Baseless, Disgruntled Members Behind It - PDP Leaders

A fresh crisis has erupted in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Umuhu Ward as prominent leaders and stakeholders of the party have outrightly rejected the suspension of Honorable Emeka Ejiogu, describing it as a desperate move by disgruntled and valueless members of the party.

In a counter-statement signed by the Vice Chairman of Oriendu Block, Emelike Chilaka, Elder Raymond Iweha, Secretary of Ofeme, and numerous other PDP leaders in Umuhu Ward, a vote of confidence was passed on Honorable Emeka Ejiogu. The party stakeholders affirmed that Ejiogu remains a steadfast party leader and cannot be accused of anti-party activities when he has consistently won his elections in Umuhu Ward (Unit 10) since the inception of the PDP, including the recently concluded 2023 elections.

According to the counter-statement, the suspension letter issued against Ejiogu is the handiwork of a few aggrieved individuals who lack relevance in the party. The stakeholders insisted that the so-called disciplinary action was motivated by personal vendetta rather than genuine party discipline.

They further argued that Ejiogu has remained one of the strongest pillars of the PDP in Umuhu Ward, delivering landslide victories for the party in multiple elections and playing a crucial role in its grassroots mobilization and stability.

The PDP leaders questioned the rationale behind the suspension, noting that a politician with such an outstanding record of party loyalty and success could not be accused of working against the party.

"Honorable Ejiogu has never wavered in his commitment to the PDP. Since 1999, he has won elections for the party in his ward. In 2023, when the opposition gained ground in other areas, he ensured that PDP maintained its stronghold in Umuhu Ward,ÔÇØ the counter-statement read.

The stakeholders also took a swipe at the PDP Umuhu Ward Disciplinary Committee, accusing it of being compromised and acting beyond its constitutional powers.

"How can you accuse a man of anti-party activities when he has delivered victory for the PDP time and time again? This so-called disciplinary action is a sham, orchestrated by individuals with no electoral value in our party,ÔÇØ the statement added.

They further noted that the process leading to Ejiogu's suspension was deeply flawed, as he was never given a fair hearing or allowed to defend himself properly, a move that violates the fundamental principles of justice and due process.

In a show of solidarity, an enlarged meeting of the PDP Executive members and stakeholders in Umuhu Ward was convened, where Honorable Emeka Ejiogu was officially endorsed, and a fresh vote of confidence was passed on him. The meeting, attended by key figures within the party, reaffirmed Ejiogu's status as a respected leader and condemned attempts to tarnish his reputation.

They called on the PDP leadership at the local government, state, and national levels to intervene and put an end to what they described as divisive politics aimed at weakening the party in Umuhu Ward. SEE LETTER BELOW:
