EMELOGU REFUSE DUMP SITE CLOSED

Following the directive of Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, to the management of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) to ensure immediate closure of the Emelogu Aba refuse dump site, the facility has been closed.
According to the Deputy General Manager of ASEPA, Chief Roland Nwakanma, a new site located off Aba-PH Expressway has been opened. He informed that the agency is set to fill and fumigate the Emelogu dump site to control pests and odor.

Meanwhile, Governor Ikpeazu has also directed the management of ASEPA to fumigate the Umuahia dump site and commence the process of identifying a new dump site to serve the capital city pending the full realization of the waste conversion facility proposed for Aba and Umuahia.
