The directive follows a significant number of complaints from residents regarding excessive noise levels from religious institutions. At a stakeholders' meeting organized by the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), church and mosque leaders, alongside government officials, discussed the implementation of these new regulations. The government stressed the importance of balancing religious practices with the rights of residents to a peaceful environmentÔÇï.

This is not the first noise control initiative by the Enugu State Government; similar measures were introduced for nightclubs and entertainment venues in December 2023ÔÇï.
