Falana Faults Buhari's Fresh Order On Grazing Reserves

Popular Nigerian lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari's order to review 368 grazing reserves in 25 states in the country.

Recall that President Buhari had approved the recommendations of a committee to review "with dispatch,ÔÇØ 368 grazing sites, across 25 states in the country, "to determine the levels of encroachment.ÔÇØ

According to a statement released by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, the essence of the review is to curb the bloody clashes between herders and farmers across the country.

During an appearance on Channels TV on Sunday, Falana said the President is wasting his time on the wrong thing, adding that the country has gone beyond looking for grazing routes.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria stated that as far as the law is concerned, the President cannot be talking about looking for grazing routes in 2021.
The human rights lawyer said: "We've gone beyond this stage of looking for grazing routesÔÇØ.

"As far as the law is concerned, the President cannot, (with profound respect), be talking of looking for grazing routes in 2021, Nigeria.
"The Northern Governor Forum, the Southern Governors Forum, and even the Miyetti Allah group have all come to a conclusion that open grazing is obsolete.ÔÇØ

Speaking further, Falana said that open grazing is obsolete, adding that ranching is a better approach to solving the farmer-herder clashes.

He said: "We need a national resolution of this crisis. We need a scientific solution. We need a modern solution to this problem.

In other news, the Bola Tinubu Support Group has described Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as a failure and a disgrace to the youths.

We reports that the group was reacting to an interview granted by the Kogi governor where he asked the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, to drop his presidential ambition.

Yahaya Bello, while stating that whatever pact Tinubu has with Buhari was not binding, he urged the former Lagos governor to give way for his 'children' to govern.

Reacting, the Tinubu group called on Bello to ask God and Kogi people for forgiveness over his failure as governor.

This was contained in a statement titled, 'Your failure in governance has betrayed the Not-too-young-to-Run Campaign-TSG replies Yahaya Bello,' which was signed by the Director-General of the TSG, Umar Ibrahim, in Abuja, on Sunday.
The group described Yahaya Bello's poor performance as a disgrace and a betrayal of the Not-too-Young-to-Run campaign.
