FLASHBACK: Attacks On Abia State Police Stations, INEC Offices, Others, So Far

Abia State unfortunately is one of the South Eastern States in Nigeria that has received a big lash from the rampaging unknown gunmen.

Since the insurrection of the gunmen, the State have recorded over 10 attacks on public facilities and numerous killings of security personnel.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, takes a walk through the attacks recorded in the State so far;

On Tuesday, February 2, unknown gunmen attacked the Omoba Police Station in Isiala Ngwa South council area of Abia State, killing a police officer.

The gunmen, who operated on motorcycles, were said to have looted the station's armory during the invasion.

Tuesday, February 23, Abayi Divisional Headquarters Aba in the commercial city of the State, was attacked by unknown gunmen.
The gunmen, who attacked the police station in the early hours of Tuesday, killed two police officers and made away with ammunition.

They also freed some suspects, set the facility ablaze including the operational vehicles within the premises.

The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu PhD, placed a one million naira bounty on the perpetrators, imposed ban on motorcycles in the major cities from 7PM to 7AM.

On Monday, March 22, unknown gunmen ambushed and attacked men of the Abiriba Police Division in Ohafia Local Government Area, killed three police officers, burnt their patrol vans and made away with their riffles.

Monday April 19, Uzuakoli police station, in Bende Local Government Area was attacked and inmates were freed.
Wednesday April 28, unknown gunmen attacked Nkporo police station in Ohafia Local Government Area.
They set the building ablaze, released suspects in detention, and burnt vehicles in the premises.

Sunday May 9, Mike Okiro Police station at Trademore Housing Estate, near Ubani Ibeku Morden Market in Umuahia North Local Government Area was attacked, and burnt.
Monday, May 17, two police officers attached to the Ubakala Divisional Police station in Umuahia South Local Government Area, were killed by unknown gunmen who also set the station ablaze and burnt vehicles in the station.

On Sunday, May 9, the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Ohafia Local Government Area was set ablaze.

Tuesday, May 11, unknown gunmen attacked the office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at Amaekpu, in Ohafia Local Government Area.

The building was 'partially razed' and no document was lost as they were in a fire proof safe.
Saturday, May 29, unidentified gunmen, attacked the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), setting the station ablaze.

They also attacked the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) office situated at Ubakala, burning cars and other properties.

The continued attacks on police facilities, killing of police officers have without doubt left the state porous and vulnerable to attacks and invasions from every angle as the personnel who are trained to guard lives and properties are either sent to an early grave or are scared away.

There is need to have a rethink on attacking what is still ours as they may take centuries and of course a large chunk of our taxes to rebuild entirely.
