The Supreme Court has scheduled Monday, December 16, 2024, to hear a new case seeking the disqualification of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Filed by Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru, a 2019 presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), the suit raises fresh allegations and demands a definitive ruling on Tinubu's qualification for office.

The case, listed as SC/CV/667/2023, calls for Tinubu's removal on two grounds: alleged non-qualification to hold the presidency and unlawful usurpation of the office.

Owuru, a British-trained lawyer and former presidential hopeful, alleges that he won the 2019 presidential election but was denied office by former President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. According to Owuru, his mandate remains unfulfilled, and the ongoing leadership by Tinubu is invalid.

Allegations Against Tinubu

Owuru's petition also includes explosive allegations. He claims Tinubu forfeited $460,000 to U.S. authorities over alleged drug-related offenses and further accuses Tinubu of maintaining ties with the CIA, which he argues disqualifies him under Nigerian law.

This isn't Owuru's first legal confrontation; he previously filed a suit seeking to oust Buhari, which was dismissed due to procedural issues. Owuru now contends that the presidency should revert to him, citing his purported victory in 2019 as the rightful mandate holder.
