FUEL SUBSIDY: 'They Live In Mars & Think 5k Will Solve All These Problems' - Shehu Sani Fumes

Senator Shehu Sani, former Kaduna central representative, has reacted to the Federal Government's plan to remove fuel subsidy and give N5,000 transportation grant to poor Nigerians.

Recall that the Minister for Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed had unveiled plans to remove fuel subsidy which will commence from June 2022. The FG who said they are losing millions of naira because of fuel subsidy, noted that poor Nigerians will be given five thousand naira grant.

According to the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, fuel pump price may increase to N340 per litre if fuel subsidy is removed in 2022 as planned.

Reacting, Shehu Sani noted that the increase in fuel price won't result to increase in salaries as it will become worthless.

Sani who is also the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, wrote;

"when the pump price rises to N340, salaries or wages will be worthless, landlords will increase the rent, the schools will increase the tuition and parents must pay; food prices, transport, water and electricity bills will jerk up. They live in Mars and think 5k can solve all these problems."
