Governor Alex Otti Mourns Arise TV Journalist Somtochukwu Maduagwu, Demands Justice

... Abia Governor consoles family, colleagues, and friends of the slain broadcaster, calls for security agencies to fish out perpetrators

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a 29-year-old journalist with Arise TV, who was killed during a robbery attack in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025.

In a condolence message released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti described the incident as heartbreaking and an irreparable loss to the media industry.

According to the Governor, the late Ms. Maduagwu was a young, talented, and flourishing broadcaster whose promising career was cruelly cut short by heartless criminals.

"Her untimely death is shocking and painful. The life of a gifted journalist who had so much to offer Nigeria was brought to an abrupt end by people with no regard for human dignity,ÔÇØ Governor Otti lamented.

The Governor charged security agencies to intensify efforts to unmask those behind the crime and ensure they are brought to justice.

He further extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, her friends, loved ones, and colleagues at Arise TV, urging them to take solace in the impactful life she lived, while praying that God grants her eternal rest.

Governor Otti also emphasized the need for stronger security measures across the country, stressing that Nigeria cannot continue to lose its best and brightest to violent crimes.
