Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has inaugurated the pioneer board of the Abia State Technological Skills Acquisition Centre, marking a major leap in his administration's drive to transform the state into a leading hub for innovation, skills, and digital development.

The newly inaugurated board, chaired by globally recognized technology expert Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe, includes some of the brightest minds in Nigeria's technology space: Engr. Cletus Ogbonnaya Ekpo (Vice Chairman), Engr. Peter Ukonu (Director General), Mr. Gerald Ilukwe, Mr. Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu, Mr. Fidelis Nweze, Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, Mr. Chukwudi Ogbonna, and Dr. Mrs. Rita Ndidi Amuchienwa.

The inauguration, held on Monday at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Umuahia, came at the end of the State Executive Council meeting and signaled a new era for technological advancement in the state.

Governor Otti, while addressing the members, described them as "the best of the best in the technology space,ÔÇØ expressing confidence that their experience and integrity would accelerate Abia's journey into a new industrial and digital age.

"These are the best of the best that you can find in the technology space,ÔÇØ Otti said. "The Chairman has added so much to knowledge out of the U.S. and is doing our people proud. The Director General is an inventor himself - we poached him from his comfort zone in the UK to serve his people.ÔÇØ

The Governor emphasized that the initiative was not just for Abia, but for the entire South-East, reflecting his broader vision of a united and self-sufficient Alaigbo driven by innovation and skills.

"This is service to fatherland, to Abia, and to Alaigbo. We must think beyond borders. Abia is too small for our vision,ÔÇØ he stated. "We believe in merit and capacity, not geography.ÔÇØ

Governor Otti explained that the new board will oversee a comprehensive framework to equip youths and professionals across Abia with globally relevant technological skills, bridging the unemployment gap and attracting investors to the state's emerging digital ecosystem.

In his response, Professor Ndubuisi Ekekwe expressed gratitude for the appointment, describing the vision as "a transformative mission that would position Abia as a technology-driven economy.ÔÇØ

"We are called to build Abia's technology capability,ÔÇØ Prof. Ekekwe said. "Technology will enable abundance, create jobs, and unlock prosperity from Isuikwuato to every corner of our beautiful state.ÔÇØ

Also speaking, board member Dr. Mrs. Rita Ndidi Amuchienwa hailed the Governor's foresight, promising that the board would deliver tangible results that would empower Abia's youth and strengthen the state's reputation for excellence.

"This is a great initiative, Your Excellency. I've heard so much about your leadership, and I'm privileged to be part of this team that will help Abia youths become globally competitive,ÔÇØ she said.

Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and members of the State Executive Council were also present at the inauguration.

With this bold move, Governor Otti has once again positioned Abia as the innovation capital of the South-East - one where ideas, talent, and technology will drive the next phase of economic growth.
