Gunmen Invade Private Varsity In Cross River, Abduct Student | DETAILS

Gunmen have abducted a female student of the Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State.

The school authorities, in a statement, confirmed the incident, which occurred around 8pm on Tuesday in a statement by the Acting Registrar of the institution, Mrs.Ughas Ngozi.

It said the university "Management is on top of events and the security agencies are in control of the situation. All students and staff are please requested to remain calm and go about their normal duties."

Multiple sources confirmed the affected students were returning from their night reading class, towards the hostel when the gunmen accosted and abducted one.

Others who escaped from the attack sustained various degrees of injuries.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the Commissioner Of Police, Aminu Alhassan has drafted the anti- kidnapping, anti cultism and dragon units to forestall law and order and secure the kidnap victim.
