The Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja recently came alive with pride, ceremony, and solemn responsibility, as Nigeria witnessed the official Call to Bar of its newest batch of legal practitioners. Among the dignitaries present was Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, the Abia State Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, who joined in celebrating young Abians marking a major milestone in their legal careers.

In an inspiring message that stirred the hearts of many, Hon. Chinasa extended warm congratulations to the fresh wigs, praising them for the years of hard work, discipline, and commitment that led to their induction into the legal profession.

He described the moment not merely as a personal triumph but a sacred responsibility-charging the new lawyers to rise as defenders of truth and justice.

"Your call to the Bar is more than a ceremony-it is a divine appointment. You are now called not just to argue cases, but to restore dignity to the judiciary, to defend the voiceless, and to uphold the very foundation of justice," Hon. Chinasa said.

The Liaison Officer emphasized the need for ethical conduct and unwavering courage in legal practice. He urged the new lawyers to become fearless advocates in the face of injustice, and to carry their professional robes as symbols of service, sacrifice, and hope for a better society.

"The robe you wear today is not for show. It is for service. It represents sacrifice and the solemn duty to make justice a lived reality in our communities. In every court where you stand, let your voice thunder on the side of truth," he declared.

Hon. Chinasa took the opportunity to commend the government of Abia State under Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, whom he described as a tireless promoter of the rule of law and judicial integrity. He stated that the current administration remains deeply committed to building a credible, independent, and functional judicial system that serves the people of Abia.

"Under Governor Otti's leadership, the Abia State Government is laying solid foundations for a judiciary that is accessible, efficient, and fair. The rise of intelligent and principled young lawyers from our state will further strengthen the justice system and bring renewed public confidence to legal institutions."

He called on the young barristers not to be mere spectators in the affairs of justice but active change agents within the system, reminding them that the legal profession is not a career of comfort but one of deep responsibility.

"Give strength to the weak, light to the lost, and power to the truth," he urged.

The Call to Bar event not only marks the culmination of rigorous academic and professional training but also serves as a reminder that the legal profession remains central to the survival of democracy and the protection of fundamental rights.
