In a statement jointly signed and made available to AFNEWS by Rtn Chukwu Nnanna, the brother to the House Member and George Ezikpe Okiyi, the Director-General of the Office of the House Member described such fake news as a purported attack by mischievous elements within the society who are politically motivated.
It is further believed that as a result of the political motivation behind the story, the publishers of the story went ahead to publish even after admitting that they did not reach out to the family for confirmation of such sensitive matter.
In an attempt to clear the air, the statement holds that the Hon. Member suddenly reported sick some months ago and is presently receiving specialist care in Europe where he was transferred to after initial treatment in the United Kingdom. According to Rtn Nnanna and Mr Okiyi, this has been the reason for the absence of the House Member from the public circuit within the present period.

To this end, the family wishes to draw the attention of the general public that the Hon. Member is not dead and advises all to show more understanding and respect the feelings of the family and save there lives from the embarrassing pains of this politically orchestrated jubilation by some elements over the ill health of their son and the Member representing Aba North/South Constituency.
Furthermore, the family solicits the prayers of all men of goodwill at this time instead of joining the activities of these political enemies.
