Afnews gathers that Republicans do not want the US to be part of the Paris climate agreement, an international accord joined by nearly 200 nations with the intent of lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reversing the human impact on climate change. McConnell reminded President Biden that the Democrats, the president's party, only has a slim majority in the Senate, reiterating that Americans voted to keep a split Senate, with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats. Democrats only have an edge as Vice President Kamal Harris is constitutionally empowered to a Senate vote if there is a tie.
