How Akwa Ibom Man gave succour to families through free healthcare

Hon. Ekanem Brown's administration has made good attempts to at least, leave a mark of positive impact in all sectors of human welfare.

In the health sector for instance, apart from the intervention of reconnecting the Primary Health Centre, Mkpat Enin to source of power and clean water, which were damaged and left unattended to for years, the Council Boss hosted two free medical exercises that gave succor to hundreds of rural residents. One of the free health events was in partnership with Mkpat Enin indigenes in diaspora, while the second one that took place in May 2019 was a Local Government funded programme.

In May 2019, Hon. Ekanem Brown restored smiles on the faces of many families as a total of 112 free surgeries were carried out on people with different ailments ranging from hyena, breast lump, appendix, glaucoma and etc. Not excluding the free eye glasses issued to people with optical defects.

A supposed 7day exercise stretched to 15days from 11th to 25th May, 2019 due to the overwhelming number of people that responded and insistence of the Council Boss that everyone with special need must be attended to.

The testimony of two kids (siblings) who were operated on and relieved from excruciating pain they suffered for years from a stomach ailment, and that of so many others are signage of the impact the exercise had on the beneficiaries.

It is also worth mentioning that in 2018, the council boss also successfully managed a monkey pox outbreak in Ibiaku ward 3. About 50 suspects with symptoms were quarantined and later handed over to the state Government through the then state epidemiologist, Dr. Aniekeme Uwah whose medical team supervised treatments.

Information about the outbreak were carefully managed to prevent panick, while food, Medicare, disinfectants and even cash were given to families whose guardian were quarantined.

Needless to emphasize that Hon. Ekanem Brown is quietly surmounting all limitations to better the lives of his constituents.
