A prominent Abia-born entrepreneur and politician, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, has thrown his weight behind Governor Alex Otti, declaring that opposition to the current administration is driven by bitterness over the end of corrupt enrichment.

Addressing newsmen at his Igbere country home in Bende Local Government Area, Anyaso said those criticizing Otti are merely lamenting the shutdown of their fraudulent revenue streams.

"Let's say it as it is-those few shouting against Otti today are pained because looting is no longer business as usual. They survived on government money. That era is gone,ÔÇØ he stated pointedly.

The business mogul, who contested the 2023 Abia governorship ticket under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the Young Progressive Party (YPP), praised Otti's administration for restoring dignity and pride among Abians.

"Abians can now boldly say where they come from without being mocked. This is because for the first time in decades, the government is working, and people are feeling the impact,ÔÇØ he said.

Dr. Anyaso, who also leads several private investments in education and tourism in the state, including a nursery/primary school and Ofuji Resort in Igbere, stressed that Otti's government has performed exceptionally well, especially in infrastructure and human capital development.

He declared that Governor Alex Otti will surely win a second term, citing his stellar performance as the reason.

"Those who were previously governors and achieved nothing completed their terms. So, a man who is doing so well deserves more than just one term,ÔÇØ he added.

Recalling his political journey, Anyaso described the PDP primaries in 2022 as a "kangaroo show,ÔÇØ which forced him out of the party. He said he found alignment with Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor in the YPP, as they both shared a vision of genuine service and not politics for self-enrichment.

"Politics should not be a tool for primitive accumulation. It should be about impact. That's why we chose to support a candidate without trading insults with others,ÔÇØ he explained.

Dr. Anyaso, who still identifies as a YPP member, also used the opportunity to criticize the suppression of opposition parties at the national level, calling on Nigerian leaders to uphold democratic values such as freedom of speech, freedom of association, and respect for a multiparty system.

"Nigeria is not a one-party state. The constant attack and suppression of other parties is undemocratic and dangerous to national stability,ÔÇØ he warned.

Concluding his remarks, Anyaso sent Easter wishes to Governor Alex Otti, praying for sustained progress and blessings for Abians.
