The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, on Tuesday, May 14, 2025, presided over a closed-door State Security Council Meeting with all heads of security agencies in the state, reaffirming his administration's firm stance on law, order, and zero tolerance for insecurity.

The high-powered monthly meeting, held at the Government House in Umuahia, saw the presence of commanding officers and directors of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Customs, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Correctional Service (Prisons), NDLEA, and the Abia Homeland Security outfit.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Navy Commander MacDonald Ubah (Rtd.), who serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, gave an insight into the deliberations, emphasizing that the Abia State Government is consolidating on its security gains and building a peaceful environment suitable for business, investment, and peaceful coexistence.

In a bold move hailed by security experts, Commander Ubah revealed that Governor Otti has successfully eliminated inter-agency rivalry among security outfits in the state - a major setback that has often derailed coordinated crime fighting in other states.

"Thanks to the Governor's leadership, agencies are no longer working in isolation or duplicating efforts,ÔÇØ Ubah said. "We now have a unified front in intelligence sharing and rapid response operations.ÔÇØ
He thanked the security heads for aligning with the Governor's new security architecture, which promotes synergy and accountability rather than the old culture of competition and turf wars.
Sustaining Peace Through Intelligence

The council evaluated the state's security situation and reinforced strategies to sustain the relative peace and calm currently being experienced across all three senatorial zones.
"We've recorded remarkable success in crime reduction, from kidnapping to illegal checkpoints and cult violence,ÔÇØ the adviser noted.
He praised the increasing collaboration in intelligence gathering, noting that many crimes were being intercepted before execution, thanks to "strong and responsive inter-agency intelligence sharing.ÔÇØ

Governor Otti, according to Ubah, reaffirmed his commitment to providing all necessary logistics and resources to security agencies to ensure they perform effectively.

He assured Abians that the government is not relenting in the war against criminality and will continue to support men and women in uniform to protect lives and property.

"Every agency present at the meeting reaffirmed their readiness to continue working with the government to keep Abia safe for all,ÔÇØ Ubah added.
