How Gunmen Kidnapped Ex- Akwa Ibom Senator, Nelson Effiong From Bar

The former Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Nelson Effiong, has been kidnapped from his own bar.
Armed men numbering up to 3 stormed the bar belonging to the senator who is also a former Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, on Sunday, September 5.

The assailants stormed the popular relaxation of the ex lawmaker who hail from the Oron Local Government Area of the State, along Oron road in Uyo, shooting sporadically.

Following the stampede that ensued, at least, 8 persons were said to have sustained injuries. They however succeeded in whisking Effiong away in a Toyota Camry car.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident, said, "The Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident, assuring all that the victim will soon be rescued.ÔÇØ
