One Ikenna Asiegbu has killed his 22 year old girlfriend, Chidinma Christopher in Urutolu village, Mgbakwu community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The victim who hails from Enugwu Agidi, in Njikoka LGA of the state, was said to be living with her boyfriend with a 6 months old baby.

A neighbour, Mrs Ngozi Nwude told PUNCH that before the Saturday incident, Asiegbu always beat his girlfriend not minding their intervention.

"The girl had been living with the suspect for some months now, even though the bride price was not paid. She was from Enugwu Agidi, in Njikoka LGA of the state, but her mother is from Mgbakwu.

"The boy was in the habit of beating her for reasons we don't know, even though he had been cautioned on many occasions, now see the result" she said.

According to report, angry mob beat the suspect to stupor, attempted to set him ablaze before the police intervened.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, Anambara state police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, said;

"On Saturday, we received information that the suspect beat and murdered the victim in his house at Mgbakwu. The victim was rescued and rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.

"The suspect, Mr. Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly murdered a 22-year-old Miss Chidimma Christopher, at Urutolu village in Mgbakwu, has been apprehended and he is now in custody.
