AFCON: How NYSC Member, APC Chieftain, Died Watching Super Eagles Vs SA Match
A National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Adamawa state, simply identified as Samuel, slumped and d!ed on Wednesday, while watching Super Eagles of Nigeria's clash with South Africa's Bafana Bafana.

The Corps member reportedly collapsed at a sports viewing centre before the last penalty shootout that progressed Nigeria to the final stage of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Unfortunately, he died before he could be taken to a hospital.

A source who witnessed the incident said;

"We lost one Nigerian a few minutes ago during our victory celebration over South Africa today at our Sports Viewing Center (SVC) here in Numan.ÔÇØ

"The Corps member who is serving in numan from Kaduna has fainted before the kick-off of the winning goal.

"He died before they could reach the hospital in Numan, may his soul rest in peace.ÔÇØ

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the NYSC Coordinator in Adamawa state, Mr. Jingi Dennis, said;

"l have received the news of his death last night, I hope to have more details todayÔÇØ.

"According to his colleagues who went with him to watch the match, the late corps member told them that he doesn't like watching penalty shootout, he then bowed his head and all of a sudden he collapsed.ÔÇØ

"He was confirmed d┬úad at the General Hospital in Numan by the Doctor.ÔÇØ

Similarly, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former House of Representatives member representing Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, is dead.

Ojougboh was also said to have passed away on Wednesday evening while watching the AFCON semi-finals match between Nigeria and South Africa.

A source close to the politician said, "Cairo Ojougboh, a medical doctor died during the Nigeria vs.South Africa match.

"The incident happened when the penalty was awarded against Nigeria. Dr Ojougboh was said to have shouted and slumped due to massive heart attack when SA scored.ÔÇØ

Confirming the incident to journalists, the Publicity Secretary of Agbor Community Union, Mr Augustine Ekamagule, said;

"According to the President General of the Agbor Community Union, Chief Laurence Onyeche, Ojougboh died in Abuja while watching the football match of Nigeria vs South Africa.

"He said a member of Ojougboh family called him around 3am. on Thursday, informing him that Cairo Ojougboh had passed away.

"The family member said Ojougboh was watching the match and immediately South Africa scored the goal, he shouted and slumped.

"All efforts to revive him were not fruitful. It was around that 3am. the family announced his death.ÔÇØ
