How Police Rescued Over 30 Slave Girls In Anambra | DETAILS/ PHOTOS

The teenage girls who were mostly recruited under the disguise of coming to serve as sales girls where deceived into the activity in which returns are given to their 'madam' who according to the state police command, is currently at large.

Narrating her ordeal to newsmen, one of the girls identified as Favor said;

"I was lured into the business by a friend who did not tell me that we would be used as prostitutes. I was told that I was coming to work as a sales girl, only to be trapped. I came there in August, 2021, to work as a sales girl. None of us could run away because of the guards there and the heavy security around us.

"They charged up to N1,000 per man and we used to get about 20 men that slept with us in a day, but our madam gave us N250 for meal every day.ÔÇØ

The girls hail from states like; Anambra, Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Benue States, etc with about 4 currently pregnant.

Parading the girls on Wednesday, June 15 at the area command in Onitsha, spokesman of the command, Dsp Tochukwu Ikenga, warned parents to be vigilant and note the type of people they release their children to.

He added that the rescued victims including other suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition and Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for proper "rehabilitationÔÇØ, "reformationÔÇØ and "reintegrationÔÇØ.

"Parents should learn how to monitor the activities of their kids and the company they keep. These kids who came from different states that include Anambra, Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Ebonyi, Benue, among others, were tricked into this situation because their parents were not able to monitor the company they keep.ÔÇØ

According to Ikenga, the hotel owner and other suspects took to their heels when the police team led by the Onitsha Police Area Commander, Mr. John Obuagbaka, raided the hotel.

"The manager of the hotel and others are still at large but we arrested six others that used to receive the girls on behalf of the owner of the hotel, including his assistant, one Mrs Uzo Ifeoma (35) and two security men, Chidiebere Alaka and Chidera Alaka, who ensured that the girls did not run away once they come into the hotel.

"Among the items recovered from them included, three pump action guns, seven live cartridges and N877,500 and two registers where names and money collected from them were written.

"Following a rigorous analysis of crime trends and pattern, the command's operatives, working on information, busted the hotel, where they use children between the ages of 14years - 17years for s-ex slaves, prostitution and baby factory.

"We also have NAPTIP here, whom we shall hand over the victims to for the welfare and rehabilitation of the children. All suspects will be charged to court at the end of investigations.ÔÇØ
