WATCH VIDEO: How PoS Operator Allegedly Attempted To Commit Su!cide In Court
A Point of Sales (POS) operator identified as Umar Faruk Usman has allegedly attempted to commit suici-de in Yola, capital of Adamawa State.

Umar who hails from Yola South Local Government Area of the state, allegedly attempted to commit suic-ide at the Upper Area Court I in Yola on Monday, July 17, 2023, where he was sued by his friend, Mustapha Baraya, over N1.760Million debt.

According to a journalist, Jonathan Filibus, Umar was sued by his friend of the same address on the 13th February, 2023 for "criminal misappropriation and breach of trust" contrary to section 299 of penal code law 2018.

Baraya gave Umar the sum of N1.960 million to operate POS business but Umar misappropriated the entire money, and only refunded the sum of N150,000.

It was gathered that effort by the complainant to recover the remaining N1.760 million balance was not successful as Umar and his father kept deceiving him even after the judgment delivered by the court.

The court had ordered Umar to refund the money and gave him one month grace within which to do so, but he failed to refund the money.

The defendant and his father informed the court that they had a rice farm which was ready for harvest, and that after the harvest they will refund the money.

Unfortunately, the defendant and his father secretly went and harvested the crop without the knowledge of the court and without refunding the money.

The court was left with no option than to enforce its judgement where it ordered that Umar's house which was given to him by his father be disposed.

The house was sold at the sum of N1.1million so as to raise the money in order to refund it in compliance with the order.

Apparently dissatisfied with the action of the court, Usman bought a bottle of local insecticide popularly known as otapiapia, hid it in his pocket and stormed the court in order to terminate his life.

He entered the Chamber of the Judge, Hon. Shehu Mustapha, where he emptied the substance in his mouth and broke its bottle in an effort to end his life before the judge.

He instantly collapsed and started vomiting and became unconscious. He was later rushed to Special Hospital Yola for urgent medical attention.
