H0T: How Security Guard Defiled 8-Year-Old Minor, Driver Partner Dies In Custody

A security guard, Ibrahim Sale has been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling an 8-year-old minor in Kano state.

Kano state High Court found the Sale guilty on Wednesday, July 14, after he was tried on a three count charge of criminal conspiracy, r*pe, and act of gross indecency.

The Prosecuting counsel, Hafsat Kabir-Sanusi, had told the court that the convict committed the offence on July 24, 2017.

According to him, Sale conspired with one Sa'adu Ibrahim, a driver, who had s*xual intercourse with the minor many times on the same date at about 4:00 p.m.

"Ibrahim, the first defendant and driver of the victim, raped the girl on different occasions whenever he brought her back from school.ÔÇØ

The prosecutor recalled that Ibrahim was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, Hepatitis, and died in prison in December 2019 while awaiting trial.

However, in his ruling Justice Usman Na'abba, held that the prosecution did not prove their case of rape beyond reasonable doubt.

"There was no evidence of penetration tendered before the court,ÔÇØ he said.

He thereafter, sentenced Sale to six years imprisonment starting from the first day of arrest.
