I Am Being Attacked, My Life Threatened In Prison - Abba Kyari Makes Fresh Plea To Court
Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police and a former Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari has alleged threat to his life and series of attacks on him in Kuje prison.

Recall that Kyari who was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on February 12, 2022 was remanded in prison by a Federal High Court Abuja after he was arraigned on March 7 over alleged drug trafficking.

He had applied for bail on health ground, which the court refused after NDLEA argued that he may flee if granted bail.

Applying for a review of his bail application, Kyari through his legal counsel, Nureini Jimoh said all the correctional centres in the country, houses criminals who Kyari had arrested and as such, they pose as threat to his life in custody.

The document read in part: "At the centre, the applicants who were head and deputy head of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force met stiff resistance, attack and open threats to the lives of the applicants by series head (sic) of criminal gang that they had busted.

"There is no correctional centre that the criminals that have been arrested by the IRT under the headship of the applicant in furtherance of their constitutional and statutory duties as police officers cannot be found and there is a high likelihood of threat to the lives of the applicants."
