I00 DAYS IN OFFICE: ABHA MINORITY WHIP HIGHLIGHTS ACHIEVEMENTS

As part of activities to mark hundred days in office by political office holders both in the Executive and Legislative arms of government, the Minority Whip/Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency in Abia House of Assembly Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha is using this medium to highlight some of his landmark achievements recorded during his 100 days in office.

Upon taken his seat in the 7th Assembly, he embarked on a Town Hall Meeting across the five clans that made up his constituency, in a bid to understand the peoples' plights as well as to know their major challenges and to seek solutions to the imminent ones.

Apart from that, Hon. Ukoha took the Bull by the Horn by delving into the long standing crises bedevilling the people of Isu, as a result of regular board attacks by their neighbors from Cross River State; and through his towering efforts, he was able attract the presence of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and that of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to come to the aid of Isu people and so far, both the governor and federal government have approved relieve materials ready to be distributed to Internally Displaced Persons of the area.

He authored a Bill known as the Abians in the Diaspora Commission which is currently under debate.

He is one of the influencers in the provision of Water borehole to the Vulnerable groups in Ndi Okpo, Ihechiowa, with the assistance of United Nations Agency and the Abia Community Development Agency.

In areas of Skills Acquisition, the lawmaker is interfacing with the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) and Women's Development Center to train youths of his Constituency in different skills such as fashion design, Allied and chemical, confectionary, carpentry, welding, etc and so far more than five interested persons have been enrolled.

The Minority Whip attracted a four-classroom block currently under construction at Aggrey Primary School, Ibom, Arochukwu.

Above all, arrangements are in advanced stage with financial institutions to facilitate access to capital to qualified women engaged in various businesses.

He has started empowering constituents through the formation of cooperatives in different agricultural products including but not limited to garri, rice and oil production.

Hon. Ukoha was a guest at the 2019 graduation ceremony of students of Central Primary School, Ameke, Abam, and he used the opportunity to disclose that his scholarship scheme will target deserving indigent students.

The Minority Whip assures his constituents and Abians in Diaspora of his resolve to continue to do more for them as their representative, and urged them never to relent in their support and commitment to build a better Abia state.
