Ikpeazu Meets Kinsmen, Hands Over Brand News Community Hall, Market

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu spend today with his kinsmen at his home, Umuobiakwa in Obingwa LGA as revealed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka.

The good people of Umuobiakwa gathered in their numbers today at the Ahiafor Umuobiakwa Square in honor of their son and Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD.

It was a beautiful display of the customs and traditions of the people as they danced and rejoiced with their own son.

The highpoint of the event was the handing over of the brand new Community Hall together with market stalls by the Governor to his people. According to him, this was his own little contribution to the economic growth of his people.

The Community hall which is fully equipped will serve as a meeting venue for the people of Umuobiakwa while the market stalls are meant to provide a conducive environment for small business owners in the community to do their business.

Accompanied by his wife, Nkechi and his younger brother, Iheanyi, the Governor thanked his people for their support and assured them that he will continue to do his best for them.

The Governor also used the opportunity to hand over several items of empowerment to different segments of the Community and urged them to make good use of them to improve their lives.

He challenged the youths of the community to embrace education as a veritable means of getting prepared for the challenges of the future and assured that he will continue to provide support to those who are studying.

He challenged his people to ensure that the facilities are kept clean and in good condition at all times.

The Governor later cut the tape marking the official opening of the Market and Community Hall, after which he joined his kinsmen in the Community meeting.

The people, led by their Chairman, Elder Felix Elemba presented the Governor with different gift items and thanked him for remaining a true son of the soil. They assured him that they would continue to support and pray for him at all times.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Hon Nnaji Kimbo, Traditional Rulers, Elders and other leaders of the Community were part of the event.

From Umuobiakwa, the Governor visited the nearby Itungwa Community where he met with the Traditional Ruler of Itu Ahiafor Community, His Highness, Eze Appolos Orji and members of his cabinet.

The purpose of the visit was to formally inform them that the new Community Market built for them by the Governor should be made open for use by the people. The Governor also gave some cash gifts to the women there to encourage them to start trading at the market.
