Ikwuano/Umuahia: There's No Zoning Arrangement Between Ohuhu, Ibeku -Kingsley Megwara

A chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Honorable Kingsley Megwara has reacted to agitations and clamor for the 2023 Ikwuano/Umuahia House of Representative slot to go to the Ohuhu clan.
Megwara who hails from Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State while featuring on AFTELEVISION Programme 'Focal Point' on Friday, said there have not been a rotation/zoning arrangement for House of representation between Ohuhu and the Ibeku people except for Chairmanship position.

"there is no where it is written that this is the arrangement even between us and our Ibeku brothers. To be fair with them, there is no meeting between an Ibeku man and the Ohuhu man that spelt out this arrangement.

"What we have before now was the arrangement for chairmanship. An Ibeku goes, an Ohuhu man goes; we have never sat down and discuss this".
The Chieftain noted that he believes that whatever is due to Ohuhu would come to it, however, elections requires people's votes.
He stated further that governance and elective positions are not given but they are contested for and won.

He advised aspirants from Ohuhu to reach out to the grassroots and convince people to vote for them from all clans.

"If you are from Ohuhu ad you want to aspire to go to Federal House, start from Oboro, and go back to Ubakala, Nsirimo, go to all the hamlets and ask people to see reasons why they will have to vote for youÔÇØ.

"I expect Ohuhu sons and daughters who are interested in this position to make friends, build bridges; Ohuhu is only 10-15% of the total delegate votes when it comes to delegate capacity. So you have to be able to talk to your Ibeku brother; you have to move on and go to Oboro, Ariam Usaka and then come back to Ubakala and go to Nsirimo and begin to build together the cohesive forces of brotherhood and sisterhood that makes people win election.

You can't be in Nkwoegwu or Afugiri, Ofeme, Amaogwugwu and you are hitting the table and say it's our turn; its nobody's turn, it's an elective position that folks have to go out there and plead with the people to vote for themÔÇØ Megwara opined.
