Tension Over Imo Governorship Election judgment By Supreme Court
Today, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has reconstituted the seven-man panel of Justices of the Supreme Court hearing appeals that are challenging governorship election results in six states.
Recalled, the apex court had on Monday, abruptly suspended the hearing of all the appeals, after one of the justices on the previous panel suddenly fell sick shortly after proceedings commenced on the appeal challenging the election

While members of the Peoples Democratic Party are upbeat that the supreme court would uphold Ihedioha's victory, members of the All Progressives Congress and All Progressives Grand Alliance are hopeful that the judgment would go in their favour.
The supreme court, on tuesday resumed proceeding , AFnews understands that the panel was reconstituted, as Justice Inyang Okoro who was a member of the initial panel, was replaced by Justice Amina Augie.

Other members of the initial panel: The CJN, Justices Sylvester Ngwuta, Kayode Ariwola, Ekekere Ekun, Uwani Abba Ajji and Amiru Sanusi, were retained. The panel will hear 13 appeals that arose from governorship elections that held in Kano, Imo, Sokoto, Plateau, Bauchi and Benue State on March 9, 2019.
Supreme Court Stands Down Judgment On Imo Governorship Election
The Supreme Court has stood down judgment in the suit challenging the election of Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State.

The apex court took the decision on Tuesday while hearing the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the March 9 election, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

Recall, AFNews reports that, Senator Ararume filed the appeal to challenge Governor Ihedioha's election after he lost at the Imo State Governorship Election Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, chaired a seven-man panel of justices that presided over the hearing of the appeal.

Meanwhile, Mr Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA) who had also filed an appeal against the governor's election has withdrawn the suit before the court.

Mr Nwosu, represented by his lawyer, Mr Solomon Umoh, explained that he took the decision based on the judgment of the apex court delivered on December 20, 2019.

The Supreme Court had said that Nwosu was not a candidate in the March 9 poll.
