Amid rising political tension in Rivers State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in a high-stakes closed-door meeting with the nation's top security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Vanguard Newspaper, those in attendance include the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Adeola Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Mohammed Mohammed.

Adding weight to the meeting are key figures from the National Assembly, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu. However, it remains unclear if they are directly participating in the security deliberations or attending for separate matters.

While the official agenda of the meeting has not been disclosed, sources speculate that it is linked to the escalating crisis in Rivers State, which has taken a dangerous turn with violent threats, protests, and alleged interference by political heavyweights.
This comes barely hours after an explosion rocked a section of the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday night. The blast, which occurred near the under-construction Bodo-Bonny Road, has heightened concerns about possible sabotage amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.

Additionally, the youth wing of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, demanding an apology over his alleged attack on PANDEF and South-South leaders. That deadline expired on Monday, further fueling the tense atmosphere in Rivers.
