Jubilation In Abam As Philanthropist Commissions Multi Million Naira Customary Court Building, Gives Millions To Indigenes
The judicial activities in the customary court in Amaelu Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State which was dampened owing to the dilapidated nature of the court building will now restart as Chief Chijioke James Ume (Ike Abam), has commissioned a newly constructed building to make judicial work easy.

The multi million naira project solely constructed under two months by Chief Ume, a philanthropist, was commissioned and handed over to the Abia state judiciary on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in Amaelu Abam.

Speaking at the event, Ume described the judiciary as a vital ingredient towards the betterment of the society. He stated that the series of projects he has attracted to the community was his own way of giving back to the people.

"Abam gave me everything so I feel I should give Abam everything. I take it as a sense of responsibility. This is our ancestral home and if we must have a court, it must be here" Ume added.

He thanked everyone who supported in their own ways to ensure that work was done and wrapped up under two months as proposed.

Chief Ume also donated two million naira to the women of the community which Professor ACB Agbazuere supported also with the sum of one million naira.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, the Attorney General of Abia State, Chief Ihediwa Uche SAN, represented by Barrister Kenneth Obasi Ogbonna a state counsel with ministry of justice in the state, commended Chief Ume for taking it upon himself to construct a conducive building for judicial activities. He noted that most courts in various parts of the state are in a very bad condition and needs individuals to support as the government do not have all the resources needed.

"we've been preaching partnership with the private sector and we can say of a truth that we have seen it in action today" he said.

Earlier in his remark, His Royal Highness Eze Evangelist Ogbuka Origa, Ife of Okorie Ogori autonomous community, recalled series of efforts and intercession made to ensure that the customary court structure erected since 1933 is reconstructed.

He expressed gratitude to Chief Ume for using his resources to construct a new building from the scratch. Origa prayed God to bless him and also called on other sons and daughters of Abam to use their resources and bring development to the community.

Earlier in his address, the president general, Abam Development Union, Mr Mike Onwuchekwa appreciated Ume for his timely intervention, ensuring that the customary court was not moved from Amaelu Abam to Ozu Abam as the dilapidated nature of the building had threatened.

He described Ume as a man of disarming humility, kindness and compassion who has always shown interest on matters that affects the community.

"God in his infinite mercy and grace decided to wipe our tears through one of our illustrious sons in the person of Ike Abam. The project far exceeded our expectations; he not only fully bankrolled the project and the furnishing of the offices in it's entirety, he also sunk a motorized borehole within the premises of the court to provide portable drinking water for the court and the community " Onwuchekwa noted.

He stated that posterity will be kind to Ume adding that his name will be prominently placed in the book of history of great men and women who contributed to the development of Abam.

"The people of Abam Onyerubi are proud of you and do not take your numerous acts of benevolence for granted " he added.
