Former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, is dead.

Ajimobi died after battling coronavirus.
According to the Nation, a source close to the former Governor said Ajimobi breathed his last at about 4pm on Thursday.

Before his death, he was reported to be receiving treatment after a surgery at the First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi, where he also died

Ovation Publisher, Mr. Dele Momodu also confirmed the death of the former Governor in a post on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

He said, "Good night former GOVERNOR ABIOLA AJIMOBI of Oyo State. My sincere condolences to the family... RIPÔÇØ.

However, all efforts to get a confirmation from family members and his aides have proven abortive.

Calls put through to his Special Adviser on Communication, Bolaji Tunji was also not received.

Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde said he cannot confirm Ajimobi's death as only his family can do so.
Ajimobi governed Oyo State between 2011 and 2019.
